Life with Horses is dedicated to re-homing and re-educating racehorses after they come off the track. Thoroughbreds are the fastest animal in the world at 70.76km per hour. They provide us with so much entertainment to enjoy. However, during retirement, the care and wellbeing ex-racehorses are afforded varies greatly. In fact, in many cases, it’s far worse than you’d expect. It takes significant resources to take in a injured retired racehorse and provide them with a forever home.

Life with Horses generates funding to directly support the transition process and ongoing welfare of racehorses after their racing career, which includes food, housing, vet bills and re-training services, to name a handful.

Prince Brinky arrived at Life with Horses on the 14th September 2022. He’s 7 years old, is by Spirit of Boom and retired in April, following a career that saw him win five races.

He arrived with all four feet filled with ‘Seedy Toe’. Seedy Toe is a fungal infection that can take of their entire foot, causing a huge amount of pain and lameness. To manage this, we require a farrier to attend to his feet every two weeks (each visit costs $220), constant cleaning and treating with iodine and supplements to assist with hoof growth.
